What is CMA?

CMA Mental Arithmetic is an internationally recognised brain development program. Children learn to calculate on an abacus, and then on a “mental abacus” they picture in their minds.

What does CMA teach?

Three components that work together: Abacus Arithmetic, Mental Arithmetic and Aural Arithmetic, in age-based batches from 3 to 14 years.

How does it help children?

Using both hands and both sides of the brain builds concentration, memory, visualisation, listening and speed: skills that show up in schoolwork and everyday confidence.

How long has CMA been in India? Since 2006, building on a method developed more than four decades ago.

CMA is founded
Master Tai Chiang Ching founds CMA and pioneers the two-handed, four-finger abacus technique that activates both hemispheres of the brain.
2006 · Kerala
CMA India begins
CMA India starts its journey in Thiruvananthapuram under the leadership of Mr. Sunil Kumar Gopi and Mrs. Rekha V., laying the groundwork for structured mental arithmetic education in India.
